SUCCESS BREAKFAST : BUSINESS PITFALL (Part 1) by Oye Israel.

Image
Would the sole reason you would be starting your own business be that you would want to make a lot of money? Do you think that if you had your own business that you'd have more time with your family? Or maybe that you wouldn't have to answer to anyone else? If so, you'd better think again. On the other hand, if you start your business for these reasons, you'll have a better chance at entrepreneurial success: You have a passion and love for what you'll be doing, and strongly believe -- based on educated study and investigation -- that your product or service would fulfill a real need in the marketplace.

Admission Update: What Are My Chances Of Still Being Admitted?

Most aspiring Ladokites are still under a lot of tension due to fact that they haven't been given Jamb admission although they passed both their Jamb exam and Post Utme. So the question now is "Will they still be given admission?" Well, Lautech hasn't said anything concerning this issue 'officially' yet, but from what we've gathered there are still chances of them being given admission. The first batch of admission was released on the Jamb portal sometime last month and only about 50% of the candidates were given admission, but to our greatest surprise as last Friday, 13th September,  some candidates who weren't given admission at first were finally given. Our inference from this is that there is the possibility of a third batch of admission to be given! We encourage all waiting candidates to be patient and keep praying while we hope for the best. *wink*... N.B: This post is based on logical observation and inference, not an official state

Ebola: 340 Cases Under Surveillance in Rivers State

Image
The Rivers Commissioner for Health, Sampson Parker, on Wednesday said there were 340 Ebola Virus disease (EVD) cases under surveillance in the state. Parker made the remark in Port Harcourt during a sensitization workshop at Ogu, in Ogu/Bolo local government area. He said the state government was not in a hurry to reopen primary and secondary schools because of the situation. Parker stressed that government would announce a date for re-opening of public schools after assessing the situation in the next few weeks. The commissioner advised people of the area to imbibe a healthy life style to avert contracting the disease. Parker urged them to always wash their hands with soap and water. “We want schools to reopen as soon as possible, but we are still assessing the situation before we can do anything,’’ he added. He called on the people to always report cases of deaths and stop the habit of burying dead bodies in a hurry.

Could Ebola Become Airborne?

Image
Yahoo - The Ebola virus is currently causing a devastating and unprecedented outbreak in West Africa, but could the virus create a doomsday scenario by turning airborne? Although one infectious-disease expert has voiced concern that the Ebola virus could gain the ability to spread through the air, others say this scenario is extremely unlikely. What's more, an "airborne Ebola" might actually be a less dangerous virus than the strain involved in the current outbreak, experts said. Last week, Michael Osterholm, director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota, published an op-ed in The New York Times in which he argued that the ability of Ebola to become airborne is a real risk that virologists don't like to talk about publicly. Currently, Ebola can be spread only through contact with bodily fluids, but each new human infection with Ebola gives the virus a chance to mutate, Osterholm said. "If certain mutati

Scientist Forecast An 'Extreme' Strong Solar Storm Heading To Earth This Friday!

Image
A strong solar flare is BLASTING its way to Earth, but the worst of its power looks like it will barely skim above the planet and not cause many problems. It has been several years since Earth has had a solar storm of this size coming from sunspots smack in the middle of the sun, said Tom Berger, director of the Space Weather Prediction Center in Boulder, Colorado. The flare on the sun barely hits the "extreme" on forecasters' scale, but with its worst effects missing Earth it is only looking "potentially strong" at most when it arrives at Earth as a solar storm, he said. New calculations from satellite data show that the worst of the energetic particles streaming from the sun likely will go north or above Earth this time, Berger said late Wednesday.

[Breaking]: Nigeria's president orders removal of #BringBackGoodluck posters

Image
There has been quite a rave about how insensitive President Good-luck Jonathan is because of the 2015 election campaign sign that was put up in Abuja. But there's more to this news. The president completely denied any knowledge of the signs and banner, he said they all done without his consent. Whether the denial is true or just a political stunt to save his ass is unknown to us, but whichever way, the sign posts and banners have been order down. See more info... Yahoo - Nigeria's President Goodluck Jonathan has ordered the removal of signs and banners that mimic the social media campaign to release more than 200 kidnapped schoolgirls, his spokesman said on Wednesday. Reuben Abati said the head of state shared the view that the #BringBackGoodluck2015 signs, apparently backing his re-election next year, were "offensive and repugnant".

That changed today with this: the Mercedes-AMG GT — a two-seat, rear-wheel-drive, 463-hp tourer that takes dead aim at the 911 and others.

FG to Ban Consumption and Sale of “Kpomo”?!

Image
The federal government is reportedly considering banning the sale and consumption of “kpomo” (animal hides and skins), and guess what! It's not even because of Ebola Virus. According to the minister of Agriculture, Nigerians are consuming way too much kpomo which is actually meant to be used in the making of leather and exchanged for high dollar return. Akinwunmi Adesina, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, reportedly indicated that the ban may be implemented as a means of “curtailing the widespread consumption of hides and skins as Kpomo which ought to be tanned into leather for a very high dollar return to the farmer and Tanneries,”  Adesina made the announcement during the 3rd joint anniversary of Animal Science Association of Nigeria (ASAN) and Nigeria Institute of Animal Science held at the University of Ibadan. But Kpomo/Ponmo is considered to be a delicacy for many Nigerians and an attempt to ban it's consumption might actually be catastrophic! W

10 "Foolish" Ways You Lose Money Daily In Nigeria .

Image
Ok, this might seem funny and all but it's definitely true. If you're honest enough with yourself you may even find yourself guilty of one of these very obvious money wasters. (i'm totally guilty of a couple of them, hehehe). 1. Unnecessary Parties It is estimated that Lagosian's spend close to 40 billion naira annually on parties alone . Most analyst have argued that most of these parties are completely unnecessary and most times do not add value to either the host or the guests. 2. Insisting on Designers, Labels, and Brands From groceries to clothing to prescription drugs, you can save money by choosing an off-brand over a fancy label. And in many cases, you won't sacrifice much in quality. Clever advertising and fancy packaging don't make brand-name products better than lesser-known brands. For example, generic drugs can cost as much as 80% less than their brand-name alternatives.  3. Shopping at the wrong store If you are Parti
