LAUTECH Students Win 2015 Google Online Marketing Challenge.

After a very tough competition, it is with great pride that I announce that students from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomosho have emerged the Middle East & Africa Winners of Google+ Social Media Marketing Award in the 2015 Google Online Marketing Challenge.

The University was represented under Professor Olatunde Michael Oni by the team of Obitade Ayobami Samuel, Ajeigbe Solomon, Oluwaseun Majolagbe, Stephen Odesola, Kunle Akinlabi Akinkuade and Iyanuoluwa James.

 

They worked with Jandus Radio, a company with a mobile application that allows you to listen to Nigerian radio and other African radio stations on your mobile phone anywhere in the world. After creating and managing a Google+ Page for their client over a five week period, they were able to develop and communicate the most successful campaigns.

The Google Online Marketing Challenge is a unique opportunity for students to experience and create online marketing campaigns using Google AdWords and Google+. Over 100,000 students and professors from almost 100 countries have participated in the past 8 years. Students develop and run an online advertising campaign for a business or non-profit organization over a three week period. The teams that develop and communicate the most successful campaigns win awesome prizes, including trips to Google offices. Students also have the opportunity to participate in the optional Google+ Social Media Marketing category by creating and managing a Google+ Page for their clients over a five week period

LAUTECH seems to be living up to its standard as a University of Technology as they also won the 2014 Microsoft Nigeria Imagine Cup, and represented Nigeria at world semi-finals in Russia.

This is a great revolution for the Institution as it might well be heading to its well deserved position as Best Technology University in Africa.
