Fake news? Report claiming that a student was stabbed has been stated to be false

Early Tuesday, a report claiming that Balogun Aminat, a 200L student of Department of Agricultural Extention and Rural Development, was declared wanted for allegedly stabbing another student, went viral on social media.

The report, originally published by Lautechportal.com and Lautechamebo.com, was later stated to be false.

After facing major backlash from students for the flase news, the two campus blogs retracted the story and made a public apology. They said 'none of the students [mentioned] was stabbed' and that the case had been settled at the Students' Affairs.

Defending himself, one of the bloggers said although he did not witness the incident, he got several message from ‘eyewitnesses,’ which prompted him to publish the story.

However, it is still unclear at this time what really happened that birthed these allegations, in the first place.
