What Are Ladokites Up To Today; Congress Or Protest?
Yesterday, we received a copy of a memo from some students' representatives about a Congress that was supposed to be held yesterday with the school management. However, the students declined to attend as the school management allegedly wanted the meeting behind closed doors.
Another option was instead provided for the management to address the entire student populace, particularly to explain why they asked students to return to school knowing the commencement academic activities were nowhere near.
But here's where the confusion came in: An open congress was fixed to hold today, Monday, October 9, but it turns out some students have mistaken it to be a protest.
We spoke to one of the students' representative this morning who clarified that today has been set aside for a peaceful Congress and NOT a Protest.
Why this matters:
- The Congress is expectedly aimed at clarifying the current state of things in the university.
- According to the students' rep, a communique has been sent to the school management, and they're expected to be in attendance.
- It is also believed that the school management may announce a new resumption date today as the payment of lecturers three months' salaries is expected to begin today.
The Congress will hold by 10 am today, Monday, October 9.
