Here are some questions and concerns the ASUU chairman, Biodun Olaniran, addressed during the meeting.

Why would ASUU officials come to a Students' congress?

They were invited to brief students on the happenings in school. "To make students hear from the horse's mouth"

Why is ASUU still on strike, what are they fighting for?

When addressing the students, the ASUU chairman, Dr. Olaniran mentioned that their struggle is to revamp the educational system in the institution.

According to him, the fight had been on since 2014 and the school had been suffering from chronic underfunding from the owner states.

"We are concerned about the sustainability of the institution," he said.

Is February 13 still tentative for exams?

When asked if the examination date announced by the school still stands, he said, "the examination dates and the school calendar are not ours to decide. It's the business of the school senate to sit and draw timetables, not us."

"Meanwhile, students should begin to hold tutorials and start studying."

Is the IGR enough to fund the school?

On the issue of funding, the ASUU chairman said, "the internally generated revenue is not enough. If we talk of paying salaries, what happens to other things to the run by the school?"

When is ASUU likely to resume?

Soon. The ASUU chairman said, "I cannot give a date without meeting with other members of the union."

"Also, we include the National body in our decisions.Students should, however, begin to prepare," he added.

Is there a way students can collaborate with ASUU to stage a protest to let the world know of your agitation?

"I believe more in intellectual engagement, not protests."

The congress ended with the chairman imploring students to calm down and hope for the best.

"This struggle is for the best," he said.
