JUST IN: Leaked document confirms ASUU's stance on LAUTECH resumption

An internal memo directed to members of ASUU LAUTECH has been leaked, confirming our report this morning that the lecturers have vowed to continue their strike regardless of the memo sent by the school management that the university will reopen on Friday 27.

The document which carried the signature  the union chairman, Biodun Olaniran, urged the members to "remain focused and resolute" on their industrial action, stating that "going back to resume under the present circumstances is akin to taking a blind plunge into a thick forest of uncertainties with is fraught with all kinds of imaginable dangers."

The union accused the school management of 'resorting to arm-twisting tactics,' adding that their action will only aggravate the situation.

While this is coming as a shock to most students, it was, however, anticipated by some others.

You would recall, as we stated in our earlier analysis of ASUU's demands, that the members of the union resolved in their last congress held on January 19 resolved to continue with the strike until their primary demands are met.

They resolved, among others things, that two months salaries should be paid as promised (which has been done - to an extent), and written document on how outstanding salary arrears would be paid and how to university will be funded going forward should be presented before they end their action.
